For individuals who may not quite be ready for a brow lift or a facelift, plastic surgeon Dr. Hoffman offers dermal fillers in Philadelphia. These injectable treatments work to fill in deep lines and wrinkles on your face, helping you to appear younger and your skin to look more hydrated.
Dr. Hoffman uses many types of dermal fillers in his practice, the most common being Juvederm, Restylane, and Radiesse. While they may differ in their composition, the task they accomplish is much the same: adding scaffolding and support to your skin, giving your skin flattering, youthful volume.
Juvederm and Restylane are both made up of a hyaluronic acid gel, which mimics the hyaluronic acid found in your skin to hydrate it. Radiesse is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a water-based gel. All three of these solutions are bio-compatible and will simply be absorbed by your body as they break down over time.
What Can Dermal Fillers Treat?
Dermal Fillers are proven to treat almost any kind of facial wrinkle including:
- The nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Parentheses lines
- Lipstick lines (also called smoker’s lines)
- Thin lips
- Depressed scars
Dr. Hoffman may also use dermal fillers in facial contouring of the chin, cheeks, and temples, in lip augmentation, or to treat a hollow tear trough below the eye.
What Is the Dermal Filler Treatment?
When you receive a dermal filler treatment with Dr. Hoffman, you will likely not need an anesthetic as Juvederm and Restylane both contain lidocaine. However, if you receive Radiesse, or if you are particularly sensitive, a topical anesthetic may be used.
To begin your treatment, the injection site and surrounding skin will be cleansed with an antiseptic. Using a fine needle, Dr. Hoffman will inject the dermal filler into and below your skin’s dermis. When injected, the solution will combine with your skin’s own properties and begin to add volume. To ensure proper placement of the dermal filler, Dr. Hoffman may massage the injection site gently with his hand.
Dermal Filler Treatment Aftercare
After your dermal filler treatment, no recovery time or downtime is needed. The injection site may feel overly full, but this will soon dissipate. You may experience some mild side effects, including redness, swelling, or itching. Swelling may be controlled by applying an ice pack. Best results can be seen once all swelling has ameliorated.
If you receive Restylane or Juvederm treatments, you can expect the results to last anywhere from six to twelve months. After a Radiesse treatment, wrinkles may be reduced for up to a year. After this time, many patients return to have follow-up treatments.
Dermal Filler Cost
The price of a dermal filler treatment is based on a number of factors. The specific filler product chosen impacts the overall cost, as does the number of injections required.
