There are many different cosmetic procedures available to treat fine lines and wrinkles, but there are very few that have shown visible results that last long. One such option to correct wrinkles is the use of dermal fillers. These are popularly chosen mainly because they are non-surgical and show great results. They are also found to be effective in almost anyone who opts for them.
Restylane Products and the Areas that Can Be Treated
Restylane is composed of a range of products that consists of a variety of fillers that can be used to obtain different results. These are primarily hyaluronic acid fillers. Here are some of the most popular Restylane products:
• Restylane: Used for lip augmentation and to correct wrinkles that occur between the nose and the edges of the mouth.
• Restylane Silk: This is one of the very few safe and effective methods available to enhance the fullness of the lips. This dermal filler can also erase the fine lines that occur in the corners of the mouth.
• Restylane Lyft: This is primarily for correcting issues that occur in the mid-face region, primarily the cheeks. It can plump up the cheeks and erase smile lines.
• Restylane Refyne: Used to correct marionette lines and smile lines.
• Restylane Defyne: Used for more deeper smile lines and marionette lines.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Anyone over the age of 21 years can opt to undergo this treatment method. It consists of a synthetic version of the natural hyaluronic acid found in the skin tissues.
As you age, the natural hyaluronic acid found in the body reduces. This can make the skin less elastic and prone to developing wrinkles. This is why any contraction of the skin results in permanent wrinkling. During the Restylane treatment, hyaluronic acid gel is injected into the affected area, restoring the skin’s elasticity.
The gel is a complex form of sugar that can be easily absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin. This causes the wrinkles to diminish and results in a more vibrant, youthful glow.
The time it takes for the process to be completed and the number of sites where the filler is injected depends on the severity of the wrinkles. In most cases, one or two sessions of Restylane injections will be sufficient. Depending on the correction required and the way your skin responds to the treatment, your doctor might recommend repeat sessions.
Understanding the Effects of the Procedure
A full course of treatment will involve one or more sessions as required. The time taken for the results to show and the time for which the results last depends on several factors. One main factor is the type of the Restylane product chosen and the area that is being treated. The way your skin responds to the injected hyaluronic acid will also determine how long you can expect the results to last. On an average, most of the treatments last from 6 to 18 months.
